Top 13 Good Romance Movies on Netflix

There’s a sad reality surrounding romance movies that is very harmful to the genre. When talking about the quality of these flicks, the general response is to just shrug and say “Hey, it’s a chick flick.” That is perhaps one of the worst attitudes to have when it comes to describing a movie, seeing as complacency is the enemy of improvement. It’s a beautiful story of love, loss, and heartbreak, able to make to make us care more about two characters in 1 hour and 48 minutes than many other far longer narratives.

The 2004 movie focuses on the story of Joel Barish, as he finds out that Clementine, his girlfriend, underwent a new, special procedure to erase him from her memories. Heartbroken and desperate, he goes to undertake the same procedure but as he watches his memories of her fade into nothingness, he realizes that he might be making a terrible mistake.

Since romance has the ability to trigger so many emotions in each and every one of us, it’s sad that a whole genre with so much potential is limited to being generalized as “chick flicks”. Until next time, be mindful of how and what you binge watch!
